My Nellie-Belle spent almost 18 years by my side protecting me from all sorts of missiles, bombs, was the best judge of character too. She brought me gifts she caught or found around the house. She was a mouser in her youth; bird watcher in her elder years, and my cuddle bug for all 18 years. Putting her down to save her from suffering liver and kidney failure was the second most emotionally difficult thing I have ever had to do. But, we do it because we love them.It was the right thing to do. I cried for days. Looked for her in my half sleep for months.There was only one cat like her.

What a lovely portrait and moving story Lori. You certainly did the right thing to save her from suffering. They are so hard to lose though when they have stolen our hearts and been a member of the family.
