Description
A Lioness at Southwick Zoo in Mendon, MA, was watching over her sickly mate as he napped in the afternoon sun, sprawled out in the lush tall grass. She never flinched or waivered from her self-imposed guard duty. Her King had a form of feline leukemia (Big cat version), and sadly passed away shortly thereafter. She somehow sensed he both needed her attention and his space.
